Clayton W. DeMent Fire Station - West 3rd Street
First started in 1963, Purdue University is the only school in the Big Ten Conference that provides it's own primary Fire,
Rescue, Hazmat and EMS protection. The department currently has 27 full-time personnel in addition to the Chief of the
Department. Due to the large number of laboratories and research facilities on campus, each firefighter is trained
as a Hazardous Materials Technician.

Engine11 responds to nearly every call around the Purdue campus including building inspections, stuck elevators and fire alarms.
It's shorter wheelbase allows for quick turns around the parking lots and narrow car-lined streets of the campus.

Department members wisely spec'd this truck out to meet their needs. The rear-driver's side compartment houses the pump panel and all pre-connects and discharges come off the back of this engine. This allows for a shorter wheelbase and protects the pump panel from dirt and weather for the majority of runs where it is not needed.

Amongst it's various equipment, this sharp truck includes a 10kw Onan hydraulic generator and twin 20 gallon Class A & B
foam cells. Engine 11 responds to all fire calls along with Tower 12. It is first-due on extrication and rescue calls.

Former Squad 14 - 1999 Ford F-250/S&S Light Rescue
Squad 14 was originally purchased as a quick-response mini-pumper. However, after having several pump issues,
Purdue University removed the pump and extra water tanks on top of the body. These were replaced with a customized
compartment to carry the deparment's extrication equipment. Squad 14 ran on EMS calls requiring manpower as well
as all extrications, rescues, and fires. It was sold in 2007 to nearby Wabash Fire Department.
